Tourism Guide for St. Augustine Beach
St. Augustine Beach is a wonderful city of almost 6,000
residents in northeast Florida on Anastasia Island. The city is well known for its rich
history, beautiful beaches, and popular beachfront hotels. The St. Johns County Pier
attracts many visitors, as do the playgrounds, pavilions, volleyball courts, bait shops, shopping, and
restaurants.
St Augustine Beach is about 1.9 square miles in size, and the median household income is $93,505.
Only 2.7% of the population falls below the poverty line according to the 2000 census. The government is
organized by a City Commission of five members elected by voters. The five member commission then appoints a Mayor
and Vice-Mayor from among the commissioners. Saint Augustine Beach is well known for the infamous St. Augustine
Monster (globster) that washed ashore in 1896.
St. Augustine Beach has numerous hotels and condos right on the beach. Some of the
popular hotels include the Hilton Garden Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, Ocean Sands Beach Inn, and Hampton Suites.
Numerous condos line both sides A1A as you drive along the coast, and many of these can be rented out for weekends,
whole weeks, or even entire months. Additionally there are many residential homes that are available as
rentals.
